My name is Ms. Lyndsey Versteegden, but you can call me Ms. V. I will be your child's teacher this year. I am, too, a product of Utica Community Schools. I graduated from Henry Ford II in 2009 and then proceeded to attend Macomb Community College for 2 years. In order to pursue my lifelong passion for teaching and working with children, I chose to attend Central Michigan University for the exceptional College of Education. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in May 2014, with a major in Mathematics and minor in Language Arts. Utica Community Schools has always had a special place in my heart and I am happy I get to be apart of it here. This is my third year teaching. I taught 2nd grade at Collins Elementary and 6th grade at Plumbrook Elementary. I am beyond excited and can't wait to meet all my 2nd graders this year at Graebner Elementary!
As a creative and innovative educator, I continually strive to make school enjoyable and exciting as I have found that motivating students will enable them to grasp concepts more steadily. I believe each child is unique and different. I will incorporate a positive, educational, hands-on learning environment that is student centered and adapt my instruction to fit different learning styles. I believe in the theory that students achieve when they are taught in small groups, and incorporate blended learning into my daily classroom life. Your child’s success is very important to me, and when I stand in front of them each day, I remind myself that every one of them is someone’s beloved child; I promise to treat them as such. My goal is for my students to grow up and make the world a better place. It is my belief that all children CAN learn and it is my goal as an educator to make that happen. I believe in life-long learning and will share my passion for education with your children. I love my family and my dog, Tanner. He is a 4 year old Brittany Spaniel with an incredible amount of energy. I have lived in Michigan my whole life and I love it because of all of the seasons. My favorite time of year is fall because it starts a new school year and college football season is about to kick off. I love college football! Also, I love, love, love COFFEE and working out. My favorite kind of day is when I can learn something new, so as I am teaching, I promise I will be learning right alongside each student in the classroom. Overall, I became a teacher for one simple reason- I want to make a difference. While there are many fields in which I could accomplish this goal, I feel that education is the one in which I have the greatest impact. Teaching requires passion, patience, understanding, and enthusiasm - all the things that I am more than willing to provide on a daily basis. |
